DESCRIPTION
Micas are a group of silicate minerals, primarily known for their platy nature. Muscovite and phlogopite are two of the most common forms of mica. Phlogopite mica has a distinct reddish brown color and is more flexible the muscovite mica. Muscovite mica is white and is more brittle than phlogopite mica.
Main uses for mica:
APPLICATIONS
Plastics – Micas are excellent additives for plastics to improve flexural modulus, tensile strength, and dimensional stability.
Coatings – The platy structure of micas impart a barrier in the film to improved moisture resistance, chemical resistance, brush-ability, and promotes film adhesion.
