Phlogopite and Muscovite Mica Supplier

DESCRIPTION

Micas are a group of silicate minerals, primarily known for their platy nature. Muscovite and phlogopite are two of the most common forms of mica. Phlogopite mica has a distinct reddish brown color and is more flexible the muscovite mica. Muscovite mica is white and is more brittle than phlogopite mica.

Main uses for mica:

  • Plastic Reinforcement

  • Coatings
  • High Temperature Resistance

APPLICATIONS

Micas are excellent additives for plastics to improve flexural modulus, tensile strength, and dimensional stability. The platy structure of micas impart a barrier in the film to improved moisture resistance, chemical resistance, brush-ability, and promotes film adhesion.

  • Electrical – capacitors, insulating tapes

  • Paints and Coatings – exterior durability, sheen

  • Cosmetics – foundation, lipstick, nail polish

  • Rubber Industry – reinforcing, tires, seals, gaskets

  • Plastics – reinforcement strength, stiffness, HDT

  • Construction – plaster, cement, drywall, no cracks

  • Automotive – lightweighting, seals, gaskets, sound

  • Thermal – furnace, insulation, fire-proof concrete

  • Sound – acoustic insulation: cars, floors, buildings

  • Welding Rods – heat, electrical insulation, quality
